2006 - Eurotrain 06

Being cooperationpartner the Politikfabrik gave advise and supported the MitOst e.V. and the DGAP in the planing and realisation of the press- and communicationwork for the Europazug /Eurotrain 2006. The train passed seven middel- and eastern european countries in seven days. It was a project of the MitOst e.V., the DGAP, the Robert-Bosch-Foundation and the European Commission.
On april the 24th 2006 over 100 people started their journey to seven european countries with the Europazug. In seven days the travelers got to know people from germany, the czech republic, poland, austria, slovenia, hungary and slovakia, came in touch with people from these regions and learned about their culture.
Then train arrived back in Berlin on may first, the anniversary of the EU enlargement. The results of the journey where presented in a big closing party and forwarded to representatives from politics, society and media. The goal of the journey was to show the possibilities of the enlarged European Union in wokring together without any borders . During the train ride the participants hat den oppportunity to talk to politicians, intellectuals, scientists and journalists about topics that are important for these regions.
The journey was about opinions and requests of people, about new visions for Europe and also about doubts and concerns. Mobility and education, equal opportunities and politics for minorities were topics as were questions about future EU enlargments and the process of the european integration.
The participants in the train were young people especially from the countries the train visited . They all applied to take part in the journey with creative ideas and involved the people they met on the train stations in the different countries by using theater, music, literature and film.
At the stations we celebrated a european party in and with the cities we visited. The Eurotrain connected people, cities, countries and different initiatives. During its journey it was Europe!!
